Kootenay Archives in Kaslo have a nice collection of K&S photos. These photos were taken late 19th, early 20th century when the area saw a mining boom (silver, zinc, lead for the most).

Clearly discernible the old upper delta during the existence of Glacial Lake Kootenai. That is the area locally known as Upper Kaslo. The younger, lower delta is correspondingly Lower Kaslo where shops & services are located except the school and the health unit aka Victorian Hospital (these days business hours only).
